Printbound is a printing and design house based in Blackburn which specialises in environmentally friendly processes. The company has undertaken a range of initiatives to make their products and their workplace more sustainable. In the process, Printbound have identified ways to save money in a short period of time, and improve staff productivity.

Director, Mark Tomasini explains some of the initiatives of Printbound.

Energy Savings

"We recently installed light sensitivity and motion sensors, reflectors for fluorescent tubes and skylights as part of our lighting management plan. The initial outlay cost us $5000, but with a saving of $600 per month, we made our money back in 8 months and are now pocketing the savings."

Waste Reductions

"We introduced a ‘Towards Zero Waste to Landfill’ policy and introduced recycling systems and staff training. We even produced a map of the workplace showing the location of different bins for different materials. We have reduced our waste disposal costs 25 % which is great for our bottom line and good news for the environment."

Staff Productivity
